He is Yeshua (Hebrew for “Jesus”), the promised Messiah (Hebrew for “Christ”).
Hebrew: יֵשׁוּעַ / Armaic: Yeshua / Greek: IESVS or Iēsous (a transliteration)
Meaning: Salvation, or “the Lord is salvation,” “the Lord Saves.”
“Jesus” is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua which was originally Hoshea (Oshea) (Num. 13:8, 16 - the King James Version of the Bible spells it “Oshea”), but changed byMoses into Jehoshua (Num. 13:16; 1 Chr. 7:27), or Joshua. After the Exile it assumed the form Jeshua, from which came the Greek form Jesus.
It was given to our Lord to denote the object of his mission, to save. Anangel told Joseph (his foster-father), “You are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21).
As I was thinking about His name, few important pointers linked to the very character of His name JESUS CHRIST. This is an amazing discovery for me. Check this out…
JESUS CHRIST IS…
J - Jehovah
He is Jehovah. He is God.
Jehovah is the special and significant name (not merely an appellative titlesuch as Lord
[adonai]) by which God revealed himself to the ancient Hebrews (Ex. 6:2, 3).
The meaning of the word appears from Ex. 3:14 to be
"the unchanging, eternal, self-existent God,
" the "I am that I am," a covenant-keeping God.
From the beginning, He first introduced Himself as Jehovah Elohim. He is the Creator of the universe.
Jesus Christ is the creator of all that has existed: "For by Him all things were created : things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible ... " He is the Divine "Son ...through whom God made the universe" and "is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being..." Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2-3
He is God Almighty
[Isaiah 9:6] For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
[Isaiah 7:14] Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Prophecy).
[Matthew 1:23] "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"-- which means, "God with us" (Isaiah 7:14 prophecy fulfilled).
Perhaps the boldest claim Jesus made about His identity was the statement, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:58). Translated into English, His statement may appear or sound confusing. But in the Aramaic or Hebrew language in which He spoke, He was making a claim that immediately led the people to try to stone Him for blasphemy.
What was going on here? Jesus was revealing His identity as the actual One whom the Jews knew as God in the Old Testament. He was saying in one breath that He existed before Abraham and that He was the same Being as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Anciently when the great God first revealed Himself to Moses in Exodus 3:13-14, Moses asked Him what His name was. "I AM WHO I AM," was the awesome reply. "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel , 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
Jesus clearly claimed to be this same Being—the "I AM" of Exodus 3:14, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (verse 15).
"I AM" is related to the personal name for God in the Old Testament, the Hebrew name YHWH. When this name appears in our English Bibles, it is commonly rendered using small capital letters as LORD. It is transliterated as "Jehovah" in some Bible versions.
When Jesus made this startling statement, the Jews knew exactly what He meant. They picked up stones to kill Him because they thought He was guilty of blasphemy.
"I AM" and the related YHWH are the names of God that infer absolute timeless self-existence. Although impossible to translate accurately and directly into English, YHWH conveys meanings of "The Eternal One," "The One Who Always Exists" or "The One Who Was, Is and Always Will Be." These distinctions can apply only to God, whose existence is eternal and everlasting.
In Isaiah 42:8 this same Being says, "I am the LORD [YHWH], that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images." A few chapters later He says: "Thus says the LORD [YHWH], the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: 'I am the First and I am the Last; besides Me there is no God" (Isaiah 44:6).
"... we are in Him who is true- even in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life." 1 John 5:20

E- Entrance to the Door of Heaven & Eternal Life
He Is the Only Way to God
"I am the Gate (Door); whoever enters through Me will be saved." John 10:9
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me."(John 14:6).
What does Jesus said about eternal life?
[John 3:5-7] I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, "You must be born again."
[John 6:63] The Spirit gives life. The flesh counts for nothing. The words I speak to you are spirit and they are life.
[John 5:24] Whoever hears my Word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned. They have crossed over from death to life.
[John 6:40] My Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life and I will raise them up at the last day.
[John 10:10-11] I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
[John 8:12] I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.
[Matthew 7:13-14] Enter through the narrow gate. Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to eternal life and only a few will ever find it.
[Matthew 16:26] What good is it for you to gain the whole world and lose your very own soul?
[John 14:6] I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
[Matthew 10:32-33]If anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will openly acknowledge that person before my Father in heaven. But if anyone denies me here on earth, I will deny that person before my Father in heaven.
[Revelation 3:20] Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you and you with me.
[John 14:1-3] In my Father's house, there are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you plainly. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me.
[John 11:25-26] I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live even though they die and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
[John 16:33] I have told you these things so that in me you will have perfect peace. In the world, you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.
[Revelation 21:6] I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty, I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
Finally, while he was praying to the Father, Jesus said:
[John 17:3-5]This is eternal life: That they may know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do and now Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
S- Sacrifice for our Sin
He Died in Our Place
"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."(Romans 5:8).
[Hebrews 7:27] -- ...He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
[I John 1:7] -- But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
[I John 3:5] -- But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.
By His suffering and death, He paid completely for the sins of all who believe in Him. He set us free from the certain judgment and eternal condemnation of God that was to fall on all of us.
Isaiah's prophecy also identified Christ as our sin-bearer : "Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows ... He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed ... for He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:4-5, 12
Lamb of God
"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, 'Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!' " John 1:29
"It was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed ... but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." 1 Peter 1:18-19
"He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree. ... Having become a curse for us." I Peter 2:24, Galations 3:13
"For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us." 1 Corinthians 5:7
"... the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world." Revelation 13:8
"The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads." Revelation 22:3-4
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" Revelation 5:12
U- Union between Man & God
And God purposed that through (by the service, the intervention of) Him [the Son] all things should be completely reconciled back to Himself, whether on earth or in heaven, as through Him, [the Father] made peace by means of the blood of His cross.
Colossians 1: 20
[2 Corinthians 5:19] ...God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation (NKJ).
[John 14:20] -- On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
[2 Corinthians 5:19] -- ...God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation (NKJ).
S- Savior of the world
The name "Christ" is the Greek equivalent of “Messiah,” so that the name Jesus Christ really means "Jesus theMessiah," or "Jesus the anointed." They preached this truth with such conviction and power that not only many Jews but, later, a still greater host of Gentiles, believed on Jesus, both as the Christ and also as the Lordand Savior of all men.
[John 3:16]."God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"
[John 3:17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but tosave the world through him.
[Hebrews 5:8-9]... He learned obedience from what He suffered and, once made perfect, He became the Source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him”
[Hebrews 7:24-25] "... because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely (forever) those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them."
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews
C- Center of everything
“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe” (Hebrews 1:1).
The Person whom we know as Jesus is our Creator. “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:3).
[John 1:1-3] “ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made”
In the Book of Revelation, Jesus Christ says of Himself : "I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty... I am the First and the Last, theBeginning and the End ... I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! " Revelation 1:8, 17-18; 22:13
H- Head of all Supremacy
[Matthew 28:18] “Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth’”.
He is the head of the church.
All authorities are given to Christ.
“And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy” Colossians 1:18
But there’s much more! Jesus’ companions also proclaim to us what happened to Him after the resurrection. “He humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name” (Philippians 2:9). According to their testimony, Jesus at this very moment occupies the highest place in the created or uncreated realms. His name carries greater weight, honor, and authority than any other. No thinker or teacher or leader on earth, no angel or demon or force in the spirit world, can challenge the Supremacy of Jesus Christ—now and forever.
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father. John 10:17-18
He is the King of Kings and Lord of lords
[Daniel 2:47]The king said to Daniel, "Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery."
[1 Timothy 6:13-15]I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
[1 Timothy 6:13-15]I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
[Revelation 17:14]They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings-- and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."
[Revelation 19:16]On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
King of Kings
[Revelation 19:16]"On His robe and on His thigh He as this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
[1 Timothy 1:17]"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
[Revelation 17:14]"They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings ... ."
[Revelation 11:15] "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, andHe will reign for ever and ever."
[1 Timothy 6:13-15] "I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ ... God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords."
R- Risen from Dead
He Rose From the Dead
"Christ died for our sins...He was buried...He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures...He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to to more than 500..." (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).
"This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses" (Acts 2:32).
One of the greatest proofs that Jesus is exactly who He said He was—the Son of God and the only One through whom eternal life is offered—is His resurrection from the dead.
His followers were convinced that He was the Messiah and the Son of God. His miracles, His sinless life and His teachings all proved to them who He was. But His resurrection confirms every claim Jesus made to all people for all time.
What is astounding is that Jesus put everything on the line with His own statements that He would die and be raised to life again. He foretold His own resurrection on several occasions. "And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again" (Mark 8:31).
Jesus says,
[John 3:12-15] I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe. How then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven, the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
[John 11:25]Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live
Resurrection and Life
[John 11:25] Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die."
I- Image of the invisible God
Jesus is the image of the invisible God
[Hebrews 1:3]The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
[2 Corinthians 4:4] The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
[Colossians 1:15] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
[John 14:8-10] Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." 9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
[Colossians 1:19] For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him
[Colossians 1:15] Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God.
S- Source of life
Jesus says,
[John 6:51]I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world.
[John 7:37-38]If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from within him.
[John 10:10]"I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly" [that it might be full and meaningful]
[John 6:35] I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
[John 6:32-33]I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Why bread? He is our to our daily source of provision.
[John 6:38-40]I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
[John 11:25]Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live;
Yes, Jesus is God. He did speak the cosmos into being. But He is still very much involved. In fact, the continuing existence of our universe depends on Jesus sustaining it! “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word” (Hebrews 1:2). Without Jesus, everything would fall apart: “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together”(Colossians 1:17).
No matter how self-sufficient we act or self-reliant we feel, our next breath and heartbeat depend on Him.
T- Trinity of Godhead
[John 10:30] Jesus said, "I and the Father are one."
[John 10:38] But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."
